REFINEMENT OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM OF THE ENGINES RD-107, RD-108 PROPELLANT COMPONENTS

The problem of replacement of pyrotechnic propellants ignition system in chambers of first and second stages engines of "Soyuz" type carrier-rocket with chemical one that permits the carrier-rocket operational characteristics to be essentially refined and to enhance safety during launch preparation. Twelve tests of three engines equipped with the chemical ignition system to verify reliable ignition of the propellant components with smooth pressure increase have been carried out. Theoretical and experimental work provides exploiting the RD-107, RD-108 engines with the chemical ignition system verification in "Soyuz" type carrier-rockets.
