BIOCHEMICAL ESTIMATION OF FUNCTIONAL STATE ASSESSION OF ADRENAL CORTEX

Correlation of glucocorticoids' concentration changes in blood and saliva in the course of some physiological and pathological processes is investigated. Applicability of analysing of glucocorticoids' level in saliva to diagnostical test for the estimation of functional state of adrenal cortex is justified.

ON RED FOX'S COMMUNICATIONS ACCORDING TO THE RESEARCH TECHNIQUE OF THE INFORMATIVE SIGNAL FIELDS

We attempt to explain the mechanisms of sign fields and identify the structure of informative exchanges. The article is devoted to the problems of the animals' informational interrelation theory. We deal with the informative systems of the carnivore mammalia, which inhabit in forested areas near Samara. The red fox reacts to traces of the animals which belong to its species more actively than marten family representatives. The following parameters were calculated: a distance of animal's activity; objects and events of the environment on which the animal reacts; number of elementary behavioural responses for each object; a type of a behaviour according to the motivation. The intensity of intraspecific contacts is higher than intensity of interspecific contacts. The animals react to traces of animal's behaviour more actively than to elements of a landscape.

THE INFLUENCE OF HYDROXYAPATITE INTRAMUSCULAR INJECTIONS ON COLLAGEN METABOLISM

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of organic and mineral bone materials on the conjunctive tissue's metabolism. Both intramuscular injection of allogenic hydroxyapatite and transplantation of allogenic demineralized bone matrix induce partial alterations of total hydroxyprolin in rats plasma and glucocorticoids content in adrenal glands and plasma. The possibility of collagenogenesis stimulation by injections of allogenic hydroxyapatite is discussed in the paper.

SPECIES COMPOSITION OF PLANTINGS WITH RESIDENTAL GENESIS - SOME TEMPORAL CHANGES

For town plantings with residential type of genesis (connected with residual fragments of forests that boarded Samara in the beginning of XX) we study their species composition. These species lists showing modern state of plantings are compared with the list given by N. Szherbinovsky, 1919. The situation changes in plantings are discussed using parameters of main ecological factors and species dispersion curves based on their ecological optimums meanings.

INFLUENCE OF A TRANSMISSION LINE'S ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD UPON POPULATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BIVALVES IN THE SOK RIVER

Bivalve populations on a site of the Sok river near the village Krasny Yar of the Samara region are investigated. Average quantity of animals, their size and age structure of populations at various distances from a transmission line crossing the river are determined. Data obtained demonstrate the attracting influence of the transmission line upon bivalves.

STRATEGY OF UNIVERSITY BOTANICAL GARDEN AS A REGIONAL CENTER OF BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION

Using the example of Samara State University Botanical Garden we discuss the principal directions of university botanical garden activities as a regional center of biodiversity conservation, ecology education and awareness.
